Join us in helping build the foundation for lifelong success! Skagit Preschool and Resource Center (SPARC) is a mission driven non-profit organization located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. We provide individualized services for families and their children with unique developmental needs in Skagit County, WA. SPARC is seeking highly motivated, independent food service worker to join our growing team.

At least one year experience in food service is preferred. Experience in an early learning setting is preferred.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be 18 years or older
- Food Handlers Certification (May be acquired upon hire)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Include the following but are not limited to, other duties may be assigned)
- Prepare food for breakfast, and/or snacks, and prepare and/or serve lunches at the Center;
- Support classroom staff in ensuring appropriate serving sizes are offered, including identifying correct serving utensils;
- Follow appropriate food handling practices, using disposable gloves, keeping foods at the proper temperature, and recording food temperatures as requested;
- Clean up after breakfast and lunch, utilizing proper dishwashing methods to assure sanitization of dishes and food service equipment. Disposes of food waste using an appropriate container;
- Launder towels from all centers
- Maintain awareness of children’s special dietary needs, assuring substitutions are provided as appropriate;
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and appliances;
- Empty garbage, trash, and recycling containers;
- Perform periodic cleaning of cupboards, high and low dusting, cleaning inside windows, and other general Center cleaning tasks assigned;
- Must professionally interact with children, parents, and co-workers
- Communicate to the teacher any information regarding the children’s welfare
- Interact with children in accordance with SPARC policy
- Maintain confidentiality at all times with co-workers, parents, center staff and outside professionals
- Assist in housekeeping tasks and inform teacher as to repair and replacement needs of furniture and equipment
- Ability to function in a calm, efficient, courteous manner under stress and to exercise careful judgment and tact in performance of duties
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Professionally interact with culturally and economically diverse students, staff, families, and members of the public
- Comply with all SPARC policies and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and/or understanding of:
- Kitchens and dining routines involved in preparing and serving food;
- Operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment;
- Foodservice cleanliness and sanitary conditions;
- Housekeeping practices and custodial cleaning techniques;
- The safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Perform clean-up in a variety of environments;
- Twist, climb, bend, kneel, squat, stand, walk, sit, lift, and carry;
- Identify, access, and apply appropriate policies, regulations, and procedures;
- Effectively read, understand and interpret information and ideas;
- Maintain confidentiality of information;
- Actively contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the attainment of organizational goals.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Classification: Part Time – Non Exempt
Pay: $18.01-22.84 per hour
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday work week / school district year of September – June

Local travel between SPARC locations and School District is required. For this reason, employees must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation.
