Summary /Objective:

We provide individualized services for families and their children with unique developmental needs in Skagit County, WA.  SPARC is seeking a highly motivated speech and language pathologist to join our growing team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience with young children and/or children with disabilities is strongly recommended to ensure competency and knowledge in: program planning, development and coordination for children with a wide range of unique developmental needs.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology / Communication Disorders (Required)
  • Washington State License in Speech-Language Pathology (Required)
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (Required – May be in progress)
  • Washington State Educational Staff Associate License (Required – May be acquired after hire) 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Include the following but are not limited to, other duties may be assigned)

  • Diagnose and evaluate speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
  • Plan, direct, and/or conduct treatment programs to develop or restore communicative efficacy of children with communication problems of organic and nonorganic etiology.
  • Review individual files to obtain background information prior to evaluations to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available.
  • Administer, score, and interpret specialized hearing and speech evaluations.
  • Participate on multidisciplinary teams that develop and implement individualized plans for assigned children to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Review treatment plans, and assess individual performance to modify, change, or write new programs.
  • Maintain records and data entry as required by law, SPARC’s policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Attend meetings and conferences and participate in other activities to promote professional growth.
  • Act as a consultant to educational, medical, and other professionals.
  • Provide direct therapy for children at school, in clinic, and/or in their homes, teaching parents new strategies to work with their children.
  • Supervise and train volunteers and practicum students assigned to you.
  • Actively engage in a team approach with therapists, teachers, and classroom aides to serve children.
  • Educate and involve parents with their child’s program in and out of the classroom/therapy session.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Classification: Full-Time 36 hours per week

Pay: $33.67 – $53.79 per hour (Annual contracted hours are calculated and paid on a 12 month salary basis)

Reports to: Lead Therapist

Schedule: Monday – Thursdays work week with flexibility. 

Contract Type: 10 month school district year of September – June (additional hours and pay available during the summer months).

TRAVEL

Local travel between SPARC locations and home visits is required. For this reason, employees must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation.
